Looks more like a parakeet to me, but I'm no expert.

I think it's a budgerigar, which is a type of parrot. Lovely picture anyway

In reply to the last four commenters (who have so courteously used the Spoiler button), I agree that this is a type of parakeet, probably a budgerigar, which is the most common species in the pet trade. They are actually parrots - just small ones. There are over 100 species of parakeets, including monk parakeets which have formed colonies with huge communal nests at Rehoboth Beach, DE and elsewhere.
