It's been a while since a 3+ star puzzle has been posted. Good challenge.

I easily solved more than half of the puzzle, the top and left sections; then I got stuck and spent hours looking for a clue to solve the bottom right section.
I resigned myself to ‘cheating’ by placing a black square at random, which turned out to be ‘correct’; from that moment on, everything fell into place and I finished in a few minutes.
I found the solution, but I’m still frustrated because the logical process didn’t quite work through to the end.
